01 / The Process

When bores that share a centerline drift out of alignment, from heat, wear, distortion, or a replaced cap, the shaft riding in them binds and the bearings fail early. Line boring machines all of the bores in one setup along a single axis, bringing size and alignment back to specification.

In engine work that means align boring or honing the main bearing saddles so the crankshaft turns freely on a straight centerline. The same principle applies to connecting rod housing bores, industrial gearbox casings, and heavy equipment housings with long spans between supports.

02 / Why It Matters

A crankshaft does not forgive a bent centerline.

Alignment across a span is something individual bore work cannot fix, because each bore can be perfectly round and still sit off the common axis. Machining them together is the only way to guarantee a straight line, and it protects every bearing, shaft, and gear that depends on it.

Verified before it ships

Bore size, roundness, and alignment across the full span are verified after machining, with results documented against the print or OEM specification.
