01 / The Process

Heat cycling and over-torqued fasteners warp deck surfaces over time. Resurfacing, often called decking, machines the gasket face of a cylinder head or engine block back to flat while removing as little material as possible, preserving deck height and compression specs.

Modern multi-layer steel gaskets are far less forgiving than older composite gaskets. They need a smoother, tightly controlled finish to seal, so we machine to the gasket manufacturer's flatness and finish requirements, not to a one-size-fits-all number.

02 / Why It Matters

The head gasket only works if both surfaces give it a fair chance.

A warped or rough deck leaks compression and coolant no matter how good the gasket is. Correcting it is routine insurance on any rebuild, and it is frequently quoted as a package with a valve job and line boring so the whole engine goes back together true.

Verified before it ships

Every deck is checked with a precision straightedge before cutting and verified for flatness and surface finish after machining, with measurements recorded for the job file.
